Dear UDOOers,
we’re happy to share with you UDOObuntu 2 BETA 2 for UDOO Quad.
We’d like to highlight this is a BETA release and, as every BETA, still presents some bugs.

Purpose of this release is to support official and third-party accessories and present new interesting features to exploit your amazing board. So, building on your requests, we’ve added support for Logitech wireless keyboards and mouses and Egalax touch screens in our Kernel – plus other cool features you’ll find listed below.

Strong points of this BETA are:

• Official 7″ and 15″ LVDS Touch screens are now supported!
• Kernel better packaged!
• OpenGL accelerated Qt 5.2 now supported!
• uEnv.txt supported!
• Logitech wireless keyboard and mouse are now supported!
• Egalax Touch Screen now supported in the Kernel!
• after the first boot now there’s no second reboot!
• 1Wire supported!
• VNC access has been enabled!
• UDOO Camera supported!

Username & Password
As in the previous BETA, the username and the password remain the same: udooer

How to setup LVDS
Now that uEnv.txt is supported you can modify Uboot environmental variables by creating and modifying the uEnv.txt file. This way you can tell uboot what’s the right .dtb file to be uploaded to make LVDS works.

uEnv.txt is a file that overrides uboot environmental variables, allowing to avoid using the serial port to configure the uboot. For example, you can use it to choose the display you’d like to use. By default the selected display is HDMI.
If you want to use a 7″ or 15″ touch screen create a plain text file named uEnv.txt inside the root of the smallest partition (that is, boot).
To use the 7″ touch screen insert inside uEnv.txt:

fdt_file=dts/imx6q-udoo-7lvds.dtb
video=mxcfb0:dev=ldb,LDB-WVGA,if=RGB666,bpp=32

To use the 15″ display type insert inside uEnv.txt:

fdt_file=dts/imx6q-udoo-15lvds.dtb
video=mxcfb0:dev=ldb,LDB-WXGA,if=RGB24,bpp=32

How to setup the UDOO Camera

Type this command in the terminal:

gst-launch imxv4l2src ! ffmpegcolorspace ! ximagesink

This way you’ll see the output of the UDOO Camera as a little window. The user experience won’t be smooth and actually we prefer to use the other way, that is:

gst-launch imxv4l2src ! imxv4l2sink

This way you’ll see the output in full screen for a pleasant user experience.

VNC
The default VNC password is udooer
To change it type this command in the terminal:
sudo vncpasswd /etc/vncpasswd
then press Enter on the keyboard and you’ll be asked for the password.

Bug Report

As you may have noticed we moved these bugs from the current bugs to the solved ones in the UDOObuntu 2 Bug Report open access file we made.
We don’t need to tell you we obviously need your precious feedback for this Beta too. So don’t spare your critics guys.
